Privacy Policy
Effective date: 02/05/2026
School/Business name: PAULA AZEVEDO'S SCHOOL / PAULA DA COSTA AZEVEDO (“we”, “us”, “our”, „I“)
Contact: team@paulaazevedofono.com.br
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information of users (“Students”, “you”) who visit or enroll in our Teachable school (the “School”), including our video courses and mentoring services (together, the “Programs”). This Privacy Policy applies to the School and all Programs offered through the School.
1) Who we are and how Teachable fits in
Our School is hosted on Teachable. Teachable provides the platform infrastructure (e.g., hosting, checkout, student accounts, and certain security and analytics features) and may process some data to provide and secure the platform. Teachable’s own privacy practices may also apply to data it processes as a platform provider or for its own purposes.
2) Information we collect
We collect information in the following categories, depending on your interactions with the School.
A) Account, enrollment, and payment-related information (Courses & Mentoring)
- Identity & contact: name, email address, country/region, time zone (if provided), and similar account details.
- Transactions: purchase history, receipts/invoices, payment status. Payment card data is generally processed by Teachable and/or its payment processors; we typically do not receive full card details.
- Program usage: course progress, completion, quiz responses (if applicable), comments, community posts, and interactions.
B) Mentoring information (may include special categories / health data)
Mentoring may involve information about a child’s feeding, nutrition-related challenges, or other health-related context. This can include special category personal data under the GDPR (e.g., health data).
We apply data minimization: we ask only what is reasonably necessary to provide mentoring safely and effectively. Examples of minimal mentoring-related information may include:
- contact and time zone details (where needed for scheduling),
- goals and current challenges,
- relevant risk indicators (e.g., dysphagia risk, allergies/intolerances, tube feeding yes/no, warning signs),
- brief context to tailor educational guidance.
We do not request and ask you not to upload unnecessary sensitive documentation (e.g., extensive medical records, full diagnostic files, “just in case” reports) unless we explicitly request a specific item and you choose to share it.
C) Communications
If you contact us (email, messages, mentoring notes you provide, support requests), we collect the content you send and the metadata needed to respond.
D) Technical and usage data (cookies, logs)
We and/or Teachable may collect:
- device information, browser type, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, log data,
- cookies or similar technologies for security, functionality, and analytics.
3) How we use collected information
We may collect and use personal information for purposes including:
- To provide the School and Programs (account creation, access delivery, course progress, mentoring scheduling and delivery).
- To improve customer service (responding to requests and support needs).
- To personalize user experience (tailoring mentoring to your stated goals; using aggregated usage insights to improve Programs).
- To send periodic emails and service communications (order confirmations, access notices, updates related to your purchase, responding to inquiries).
- To maintain safety and security (fraud prevention, abuse prevention, platform integrity).
- To comply with legal obligations (tax/accounting, responding to lawful requests, enforcing rights).
- With your consent, where required (e.g., non-essential cookies; explicit consent for health data).
We do not sell, trade, or rent personal identification information to others.
4) Legal bases for processing (GDPR/UK GDPR)
Where GDPR/UK GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on:
- Contract: to deliver purchased course access and/or mentoring.
- Legitimate interests: to improve Programs, prevent fraud, secure our services, and provide basic analytics (where not overridden by your rights).
- Legal obligation: to keep records required by law and to respond to lawful requests.
- Consent: for non-essential cookies where required, and for health data/special category data during mentoring where required.
Health (Special Category) Data for Mentoring
Mentoring may involve information about a child’s health or feeding-related risks. We process such special category data only to the extent necessary to provide mentoring and related support, applying strict data minimizationprinciples. Where required by law, we rely on your explicit consent to process health data.
Your explicit consent is collected and documented through Teachable’s checkout process (e.g., acceptance checkboxes for this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use, including a clear health-data consent statement), together with the time and date of your acceptance.
5) Consent, cookies, and tracking
We and/or Teachable use cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential cookies for security, login, and platform functionality.
- Non-essential cookies/analytics (where used) to understand usage and improve the School.
Where required by law (e.g., EU/EEA/UK), we will seek your consent for non-essential cookies. You can manage cookies through browser settings; however, disabling essential cookies may impact functionality.
6) Sharing your personal information
We share information only as needed for the purposes described above, including with:
- Teachable (hosting, student accounts, checkout, platform operations).
- Payment processors used by Teachable and/or us to process payments.
- Email and communication providers used to deliver messages and respond to support.
- Scheduling/video-call tools (if used for mentoring) to run sessions and communications.
- Professional advisors (accounting, legal) under confidentiality.
- Authorities if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
7) International Data Transfers
Our School is hosted on Teachable, and we and our service providers may process personal data in countries other than your own, including the United States and Brazil. Where required by applicable law (including GDPR/UK GDPR), we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses and/or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms, and we implement additional measures where appropriate to protect your data.
8) Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described:
- Course data (account/enrollment/progress): while you maintain access, and thereafter as needed for legitimate business purposes and recordkeeping.
- Mentoring communications/notes: retained for 18 months after the last mentoring interaction, unless a longer period is required by law or necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
- Tax/accounting records: retained as required by applicable law.
You may request deletion as described below; some information may need to be retained for legal obligations or dispute resolution.
9) Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- access, correct, or delete your data,
- obtain a copy (data portability),
- object to or restrict processing,
- withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent),
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (EEA/UK).
Depending on your location (including certain U.S. states), you may have additional rights such as the right to opt out of certain processing or to appeal a decision regarding your request. You can exercise applicable rights by contacting us at team@paulaazevedofono.com.br. We may need to verify your identity.
10) Mentoring-specific privacy rules: recording, communications, and sensitive information
- Recording: Mentoring sessions are not recorded by us unless we clearly inform you in advance and obtain your explicit consent. If recording is enabled, we will explain the purpose, retention period, access controls, and how you can request deletion where applicable.
- Communication channels: Please use the official channels we provide (e.g., Teachable messages/email). Avoid sharing sensitive information in insecure channels.
- Data minimization: Please share only what is necessary; do not upload extensive medical documentation unless requested.
11) Children’s privacy
Our Programs are intended for adults (parents/caregivers and professionals). We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us directly, contact team@paulaazevedofono.com.br so we can take appropriate steps.
12) Third-party websites
Students may find content in our School that links to third-party websites and services. We do not control the content or practices of third parties. Browsing and interaction on any other website is subject to that website’s own terms and policies.
13) Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14) Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued enrollment or use of the School after changes are posted will be deemed acceptance of those changes, to the extent permitted by law.
15) Your acceptance of these terms
By enrolling in the School, you signify your acceptance of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not enroll in the School. Your continued enrollment following the posting of changes will be deemed acceptance of those changes.
